Lifelines Counseling Services' Rape Crisis Center receives the 2023 Director’s Community Leadership Award (DCLA).
Apr 22nd, 2024
The FBI proudly shares our 2023 Director’s Community Leadership Award (DCLA) recipients list.
The FBI created the DCLA in 1990 to honor dedicated individuals and organizations nationwide for their extraordinary contributions to strengthening communities and reducing crime and violence. Every year, field offices select recipients for this award on behalf of the FBI Director to recognize their tremendous support.
On April 19, 2024, FBI Director Christopher Wray honored the 2023 DCLA recipients at a ceremony held at FBI Headquarters in Washington, D.C. "Our success as both a law enforcement and an intelligence agency hinges on our ability to foster and maintain genuine partnerships with people in all communities," Director Wray told the honorees. "People like this year’s Leadership Award recipients not only identify what others need, but they are willing to roll up their sleeves and provide services. They build bridges and relationships while working to have hard conversations and find a common purpose. They do it out of kindness and compassion with a sincere belief that justice—in its many forms—requires all of us to do the right thing in the right way."
This year’s recipients were recognized for a wide range of efforts, including building bridges between law enforcement agencies and the communities they serve, combatting human trafficking, providing resources to victims, and supporting local youth programs.
The FBI is grateful for each of these individuals and organizations as they work to build stronger, safer, and more cohesive communities. "
"We are elated to be honored by the local and national FBI. Our staff at the Rape Crisis Center and Child Advocacy Center – Therapeutic Unit – work tirelessly each day to bring healing, joy and advocacy to victims of sexual assault and abuse. We are especially grateful to Lenora Timmons for the nomination!; Stacey Jesse, FBI Community Outreach Specialist, for coordinating our Mobile reception and DC trip; our advocates, therapists, and volunteers for ALL for their work – seen and unseen. Finally, we are grateful to our community members who are courageous enough to take the first step to healing, Chandra Brown, Executive Director."
